Miss Barbara Davis, graduate of University of Wisconsin Library School will take charge of all ac tivities in the Engineering Li brary. Formerly she held a posi tion on the library staff at Mass achusetts Institute of Technology. With the resignation of Miss Dorothy Adams, assistant order librarian, Miss Marion Koch has been newly elected to the position. Miss Koch is a graduate of Wash ington University in St. Louis, Mo., and of the University of Il linois Library School, she prev iously worked in the Library of the School of Dentistry in St. Louis. Promotion froM an assistant to full cataloger was given Miss Vera Moyer. Miss Virginia .Orbe ton, general assistant at Trinity College and a graduate of Sim mons College in Boston, Mass.. was appointed cataloger in the place of Miss Adelle Aungst who resigned to be married. Miss Mildred Graves was ap pointed as secretary to the Li brary staff. Dr. • Brandow• reports that the index of all.- commodity pricbs prepared by the Bureau of Labor Statistices rose 7 per cent from March to June, and in June was 16 per cent above its position in August, 1939, when the War start ed in Europe. Hedlund, recently a member of the Cornell Univer sity faculty, is the new head of the department of agricultural eco nomics. He replaces Dr. Fred F. Linin ger who will devote full time to his duties as vice-dean of the SchOol of Agriculture and vice-di rector of the Agricultural Experi ment Station. Dr. Hedlund was graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1930 and received his doctor of philosophy degree from Cornell in 1936. He had been a member of the Cornell faculty since 1930.
