We,- the "older generation," say
"hello". and wish you all the fun
we've, had. We hope you will, ac

we have had.

tips abOut hoW to be the typical

np typical coed and we hope there
never will be!"
We believe that college is the
place for us to find self-expression;
that there we 'are encouraged to
find . the self we want to be and
taught to mold our actions accord
ingly. With that goal in mind there
can be no typical coed. Individual
ity is what we strive for.
That 'individuality is not the

Much has been said about the
Penn State coed. What we - hear
about her is now part of your
responsibility. We are Striving to,
make her the best. We think the
ambitions that come with your
class will help.
College has often been dubbed
a .place - to prepare students for
life. College, instead, is, life itself
and like life, we can make it or

break it.
Set your goal before you come.
Then stick to it.
There will be many obstacles,
but it's up to you to overcome
them and reach the top. Everyone
won't get . there but there is great
satisfaction in getting as far as our

Activities Under Point System
A point system to limit the
number of each woman's activities
will, begin in September under the
direction o4ghe two junior WSGA
Senators, Xnn M. Bortons '42,
chairman, has announced.
Following a survey of more than
80 organizations, clubs and soror
ities, offices and membership were
scaled according to time and re
sponsibility required. Each coed
may have a certain number of of
ficer and membership points, the
quota to be determined in Septem
ber.
Cards recording every coed's
activities for four years will be
kept by WSGA. Present seniors
will not have cards and women
now above the quota need not
drop any office or membership
but will be prevented from adding
any.
Under present scaling, subject
to revision, officer points run from
I,_ 6,8, and so on to 28 while
PAGE FIFTEEN
membership points vary from 0 to
4.
The system, approved by a vote
of 437 to 86 women a year ago,
was the outgrowth• of a WSGA
House of Representatives survey
which revealed that 352 of the 1,-
100 coeds, participated in , outside
activities and that 25 of these car
ried more than they could handle
efficiently.
The system is designed to help
assure that each organization get
officers with concentrated inter
ests and to protect individuals
from more extra-curricular activi
ties than are safe for studies and
health.
