PAGE TWELVE Women Have Own Self Government ThroughlYSGA Senate And House Are Controlling Groups; Judicial Is Court Composed of two legislative bodies, judicial committee, a jun ior service board.. and freshman council, the Women's Student Gov ernment Association, commonly known as WSGA, is the self-gov erning organization of women stu dents. All undergraduate women; upon matriculation, are automatic ally members of the organization 'and subject to its rules. WSGA officers. elected each spring for the following year, in clude a president (senior), vice president (junior), secretary (sen ior), and treasurer (sophomore). The Senate which ultimately con trols all business dealing with women students is presided over by the WSGA president while the vice-president presides over the House of Representatives. Tn addition to officrs, Senate is composed of one senior, two jun ior, one sophomore; and two freshman Senators. Fres h m en women will name one Senator son after college opens, and Sen ate will appoint another. Ex-of ficio members are Judicial chair man, editor of Co-Edition, and Collegian women's editor. Members of the House of Repre sentatives, ' the lower legislative group, include the president and vice-president of all upperclass . dormitories, a representative from each sorority, and a town repre sentative. Judicial , . Committee, composed , of two members from each class, tries and penalizes violators of rules. WSGA activities include org anization of women students, freShman and transfer .orientation, scholarship awards, Christmas drive, Christmas dinner, May Day, WSGA dance, junior-senior wom en's reception, and student-faculty relationships. New plans include a •defense program for women and installa tion of the point system, which will regulate extra-curricular ac— tivities carried by women students. WSGA officers have been com piling previously made revisions of the constitution in order to print the constitution. WSGA officers include . Jean Babcock '42, president; Margaret K. Freshmen have been granted one new privilege—the right to associate with men on campus un til 5:30 p. m. daily. Aside from that they will follow regulations of their predecessors which in clude: 1. . Absolutely no association with men and being in dormitories by . 9:30 p. m. on weekends during the first three weeks. 2. Three dates each weekend thereafter, one one o'clock, one ten o'clock, and Sunday until 5:30 p. m. 3. Signing in and out for all permissions, indicating destination if riding. .4. Presenting a written- per mission from parents to ,the Dean of Women to attend houseparties. 5. Being in dormitories at 9 p. m. during the week. 6. Second semester freshman women' may::..have one o'clock per missions both -Friday and' Satur day,7and, date - until'.9 p.: m. Sun day.- Green hair ribbons must be four inches wide and three quarters of a yard long. Lakonides members con tribute to the functioning of women's sports, and assist in de partmental programs. Membership in the group brings close' contact with WomenYs Recreation Associa tion projects, and specific duties: For freshmen women with above average grades is Alpha Lambda Delta, women's scholastic honor:. ary. Admission is based upon a scholastic average of 2.5 in college courses during the first semester. Alpha Lambda Delta members are expected to help with many edu cational programs. Every year the group holds a quiz program, calls for questions to be , submitted to contestants and awards prizes to those turning in the best brain twister. Board, senior women's honorary, will advise a group of freshman women.'Mortar Board will choose additional as•• sistants from senior women. Groups will meet once -week for eight weeks to distuss prob lems such as social relations with men, budgeting time for studies and outside activities, College cus toms and rules, WSGA activities, and manners and dress.
