Helme To Judge
York Sculpture

J. Burne Helme, in charge of the
division of fine arts, has been
named chairman of an advisory
jury to select a sculpture decora
tion for the York Post Office.
Professor Helme will head a
jury of three which also includes
Francis E. Hyslop, Jr., instructor
in fine arts, and Wharton Esher
ick, a sculptor from Paoli. The
committee was selected by the
section of fine arts, Public Build
ings Administration of the Fed
eral Works Agency.
Sculptors residing in Pennsyl
vania and eight other eastern sea
board
. states will compete for two
awards of $2,100 each. Plaster
models must be submittedo Pro
fessor Helme on or before August
4. The finished sculptures are to
be executed in bronze and will be
placed on either side of the post
master's door in York.
All competing sculptors have
been urged to visit the building
and to study the locality so that
the sculpture may be related to
the building in design and to the
life of the vicinity, either past or
present, in subject matter.

Vast Recreation
Program Planned
. A vast recreational program of
sports, tournaments, and social
events planned for the Summer
Session, was announced yesterday
by Miss M. Haidt, director of
women's recreation, and Prof. Ar
thur F. Davis, supervisor of men's
activities.
Sports for women will include
swimming, archery, bowling, bad
minton, ping gong, golf, and tennis,
with women's activities centered in
White Hall. Men will participate in
golf, tennis, swimming, softball.

gles and doubles), softball leagues,

and archery.
Registration for all tournaments
closes at 5 p. m. Monday, July 7.
Women are to register in White
Hall, men and mixed groups with
Professor Davis in Recreation Hall
or at Student Union.
Recreational interest sheets upon
which summer session students
may check activities in which they
desire to participate will be dis
tributed this week and should be
turned in at the Student Union desk
- in Old Main.
University of Cincinnati recently
received gifts totaling more than
$43,000.

credit for doing it.

main summer session which be
gins tomorrow, may enroll for a
course in hobby craftwork and
spend six weeks learning how to
do everything from simple basket
weaving and leather work to toy
making, modeling and carving in
wood or copper. The work will
