AAUW Plans Banquet
American Association of Uni
versity Women will hold a ban
quet at the Hotel State College
at 7 p.m. tomorrow, their last
meeting until October. Theme of
the entertainment will be a show
boat, Mrs. A. C. Cloetingh, social
chairman has announced.

initiated by Alpha Lambda Delta,
freshman scholastic honorary, in
the southwest lounge of Ather
ton Hall . at 6:30 o'clock last night,
following a formal dinner attend
ed by old and new members.
M. Elizabeth Baker '4l was
awarded a book for achieving the
highest average of any Alpha
Lambda Delta senior, and eight
other seniors, were given certifi
cates of merit for maintaining
2.5 averages.
Guests included Miss Ruth E.
Zang, Miss Matilda A. Bentley,
and Miss Mary Jane Stevenson.

May Day Opens
With Tapping
Mortar Board tapping at 5:30
a.m. Saturday will start May Day
festivities. Cwen tapping will
follow at 7:15 a.m. during break
fast in McAllister Hall, Ni,here
new Mortar Boards will be an
nounced.
New Cwens will wear grey and
red jackets and new senior hon
orary members will wear gold
cord tied in bows. Old and new
Mortar Boards and mothers of
present Cwens will be breakfast
guests.
Tradition will be carried out
by present Cwens when they go
to dormitories at 6:45 a. m. to
awaken freshman women. •
One hundred and forty senior•
women in formal dresses will
participate in the hemlOck chain,
part of May Day ceremonies, on
front campus at 3:30 p.m. Satur
day.
