We, The Wo.men
A Short Yell 'State'
For Upperclass Coeds
By ALICE M. MURRAY
Women's Feature Editor
Juniors and seniors rallied
Tuesday night to make an un
precedented and unexpected suc
cess of their annual faculty re
ception and came, home feeling
that they had had a good time—
an enjoyable evening—not that
it had been a duty well-perform
ed.
We hail them! And we hail the
success of this affair as a long
step in the direction of better
student - faculty relations. For
weeks and months, we have lis
tened to professors, to their wives,
to• administration heads bemoan
the fact that students seemed
unto-operative.
School councils planned get
togethers among. departments,
open houses in individual schools,
in hopes that at smaller parties,
students would turn out to make
the best of their opportunities to
get acquainted on an . informal
out-of-the classroom basis. Only
a few of them touna their efforts
worthwhile.
This time, an alert committee
tried again, but not in vain. More
than 200 professors and their
wives attended the reception to
fin& it. thronged with coeds who
graciously and unhesitatingly
conversed with them. Coeds met
faculty members whom they had
never seen before and found
them most interesting.
The party was as parties should
be and guests and hostesses alike
said with all sincerity, "I have
had a very nice time."
'Tis a pleasure for us to com
mend this party . as well as for
those with the best interests of
the students at heart. Would that
we could do it every week!
