TEE DAILY COLLEGIAN We, The Women Let's Come Out Of The Dark Inauguration of Daylight Sav ing Time did much to bring State College more up-to-the-minute and synchronize its living with that of neighboring counties and states. One thing, however, it could never do. That is bring students into wider and more frequent contact with life outside Nittany Valley. Only students themselves can accomplish this. All of us accept our "isolation" as a natural thing. What happens daily doesn't concern us as long as we have a nickel or two for cokes and a sandwich hour to join the Spring parade around campus. While we enjoy the security of our surroundings, we forget events that make the world tick. And we forget that someday we will be part of that world. For many of us, that time will come within a month. We'll be in a dither about ap plying advantageously the tech nical and professional knowledge acquired here simply because we have forgotten to observe how similar knowledge has been ap plied in the four years we re laxed in comfort. Keeping abreast of world events requires only a' few min utes of the time we preciously hoard for socializing. Reading one daily paper and listening to 15 or 30 minutes of news broad casts, would remedy the situation. For a month, until vacation jolts us into reality, we could' resolve to disregard the isolation we have accepted and strive tow ard comprehension of our fu tures. 'Marriage' Topic Of Intramural Discussion "Should a college woman marry a non-college graduate" is the question for Delta Alpha Delta's ninth intramural discus sion contest, to begin in Room 227 Sparks Building at 7 p.m. Monday. Discussion will be open forum style, with each person allowed to speak as often as she wants for a maximum of nine minutes. Two varsity debaters will open the contest, giving five-minute speeches, pro and con. Each participant will consti tute a team. There is no limit to the number of teams an organi zed group may enter. Only pres ent or former varsity and fresh man debaters are ineligible. Winner of the intramural con test will receive a silver trophy from Delta Alpha Delta, women's speech professional. Teams must be entered with Mary M. Green berg '42, R. Helen Gordon '42, or Lois E. Notovitz '42, by 6:30 p.m. tomorrow. RIDFt Wanted and RIDES Offered P.W.—PhilEt. every weekend. C —Andy, 4102.
