We, The Women
Atherton Hal! Walls Shake With Mirth
As Senior Coeds Elect 6 Honor Women
Atherton Hall walls shook with mirth last night when the
senior class women held their annual meeting there to elect the 1 six
women who have “contributed most to the College.”
What should have been a meeting to select the six most deserv
ing senior coeds turned into a sorority free-for-all.
When senior women should have been seriously evaluating the
contributions their classmates have made to the College during the
past three and one half years, instead they were openly declaring,
“You vote for me: I’ll vote for you.” ,
When all senior women should have turned out, instead only a
few sororities appeared in full force to dictate whose names will
appear in the Class Day program.
And when the meeting adjourned, Atherton Hall foundations
doubled up with laughter and between laughs screamed, What a
farce!”
About SO to 75 out of approximately 300 senior women attended
the meeting. Several who voted did not have second semester sen
ior rating and should have been disqualified. Most of those attend
ing did not act as if they realized the import their decision would
have to the entire senior class and the College. Unfavorable com
ments have already been voiced.
In view oi Ihe above lads we ask that senior women meet again
to reconsider which six women have contributed most to the Col
lege.

Panhei Rush Committee
Ms OK On Between
Semester Rushing
Incorporating between-semes
ter rushing as its major change,
a new rushing code was present
ed to Panhellenic Council last
night by the Rushing Committee
for further consideration by in
dividual houses. :
Under the proposed plan, in
vitations to four formal parties
will be issued on January 14, one
week before final examinations
with replies due ,in three days
followed by strict, silent period
through finals. Formal rushing
will open Thursday, January 29,
the day after finals end and con
tinue until Saturday, February 7,
with the usual weekend silent
periods ill effect.
By this plan the-, committee
maintains that intensive rushing
will take place during registra
tion and the first day and a half
of classes and thereby alleviate
class cutting and neglect of work
—much-criticized points of this
year’s system.
Two get-togethers between
Thanksgiving and Christmas to
which sororities invite guests
were established as new sections
of the first semester code re
placing two open houses. Three
open houses will be held toy each
house earlier in the semester and
blanket invitations will be ex
tended to all freshmen and trans
fers.
Permission for transfers to
visit dormitory rooms at any
time during first semester was
granted except during strict si
lent periods, and sorority women
