Soose Outpoints
Vigh With 'Right'
Billy Soose jumped the- last
hurdle toward getting a crack at
Ken Overlin and his N. Y. mid
dleweight crown by out-pointing
Ernie Vigh in a terrific 12-round
fight in Madison Square Garden
last night.
• Soose surprised the New York
fans by flooring Vigh before 10
seconds of the first round had
passed. He did it with a power
ful right smash to Vigh’s chin
which sent him to the canvas for
the count of 4. To sport fans it
was a new right which they had
never seen Billy throw with such
damaging effects.
Vigh, in a brilliant 2nd round
comeback sent rights and lefts
to Soose’s face, driving him to the
ropes several times. But Billy
retaliated- with his right again as
the bell ended the round. Again
in the sixth Soose was in slight
trouble as Vigh uncorked more
of his left hooks.
The former Penn State champ
ended the fight driving four hard
rights to Vigh’s jaw.
