SATURDAY; -MARCH 8, 1941 MfT r Princeton Today In Triangular Battle Lion Gymnasts Meet The Lion gym team will enter the triangle meet against Prince ton and Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Princeton this afternoon a strong favorite to cop the day’s honors and clinch third place in the Eastern Intercolleg iate League.' Today’s meet will close the season • for Coach Gene Wett stone’s gymnasts whose narrow 28 to 26 defeat by Temple last week knocked them out of the running for the title. The only contest remaining on the sched ule is the Eastern Intercollegiate Championship meet at Boston on Saturday, March 22, when the in dividual titles will be decided. Roman Pieo, Sol Small, and Lew Bordo will once again lead the State forces, the three having accounted for practically all the Lion scoring this year. Other gymnasts ' making the trip are Captain Ben Stahl, Jack Krause, Charlie Senft and John Teti. Today’s Fencing Meet With Lehigh Cancelled The fencing,meet with Lehigh, scheduled for Rec Hall at 2 p.m. today has been cancelled by a telegram from Lehigh stating that transportation was not avail able. Instead of the scheduled event, Coach Harry Krutter will run a practice meet between the first and second teams, in preparation for the Rutgers and N.Y.U. meets next weekend. These two meets, probably the toughest on the Lion schedule, mark the end of this season. Ski Meet At Colgate With a snowfall late this week making skiing conditions favor able, the Penn’ State ski team left yesterday to compete against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Y. mid dleweight crown by out-pointing Ernie Vigh in a terrific 12-round fight in Madison Square Garden last night. • Soose surprised the New York fans by flooring Vigh before 10 seconds of the first round had passed. He did it with a power ful right smash to Vigh’s chin which sent him to the canvas for the count of 4. To sport fans it was a new right which they had never seen Billy throw with such damaging effects. Vigh, in a brilliant 2nd round comeback sent rights and lefts to Soose’s face, driving him to the ropes several times. But Billy retaliated- with his right again as the bell ended the round. Again in the sixth Soose was in slight trouble as Vigh uncorked more of his left hooks. The former Penn State champ ended the fight driving four hard rights to Vigh’s jaw.
