Five Sororities Reject '
Corsage Vs. Ribbon Plan
For British War Relief
Rejecting Panhellenie Coun
cil’s proposal that sorority viom
en wear British “War Relief rib
bons instead or corsages to their

voted 5-3, this week, v.
Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Omi
cron Pi, ■ and Delta Gamma fav
ored the plan but were defeated
by Chi Omega, Gamma Phi. Beta,
•Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa
Kappa Gamma, and Zeta Tau Al
pha who voted down the sug
gestion. Alpha Epsilon Phi and
Phi Mu are undecided as yet.
Chief objections to the plan
were that most students had al
ready contributed, the responsi
bility would rest- upon the .wom
en’s dates and they hesitated to
explain the plan to them, and
that the plan was aimed at only
one group.
Since the vote is large enough
to defeat the Panhellenie motion,
final decision will probably be
left to individual houses.
650 Women Attend
Novel Mass Meeting
Perhaps the most novel mass
meeting in WSGA history was
held in Schwab Auditorium last
night. Why novel? Because for'
the first time within the recol
lection of present coeds no nom
inations for May Queen were
made from the floor.
Also, about 650 women stu
dents attended to have their
names checked, off the alphabet
ical lists by four coeds -who diz
zily searched the “G’s” for Jones
and attempted to hold off the mob
which was anxious to avoid
meeting Judicial Committee at a_
later date.
But, the 196 seniors, 196 jun
iors, 182 sophomores, and 83
freshmen who failed to be check
ed off the first roll ever to be
taken at the first really “com
pulsory mass meeting” will leam
their penalties soon—probably
several black marks or removal
of a one o’clock permission. .
Adding to the novelty are the
facts that so few WSGA nomin
ations were made from the floor
and no additional candidates
named for W r RA poSts.
