"In view of the interest show by the student body and also manifested by The Daily Collegian I thought it advisable to discuss this matter with the Executive Committee of the School of Physi cal Education. This Committee was unanimously in favor of hon oring our 1940 captain in this manner. "We believe it advisable not to establish any definite policy regarding the selection of future athletes for this honor, concluding that it would be best to judge each case as the occasion arises. The Committee hopes for many such "problems" in the future. "I wish to express my gratitude for the many - communications received from students, all in favor of recognizing Gajecki's ability as a football player by including his picture with the greats of the past. Such universal sentiment is only one more indication of the real worth of our captain."
