Baltimore, Moffatt
Gross Lead Scoring
Special to The Daily Collegian
LEWISBURG, Pa., Dec. 11 A
trio of sharpshooters—Herk Balti
more, Scotty Moffatt and Elmer
Gross—paced Penn State to its
first victory, a runaway 55-21 tri
umph over Bucknell's Bisons here
tonight.
Baltimore, sophomore c en ter,
led the Nittany scoring spree by
dumping in seven field goals and
one free toss for 15 points. Moffatt
-had six goals and a pair of fouls
for 14 points and Gross, held to
two free throws against W&J,
showed a complete reversal of
form by tallying 12 counters.
Captain Johnny Barr, although
limited to a single field goal, show
ed a decided improvement over his
play last Saturday. In all around
floor ability he was easily the out
standing player on the ffoor.
At no time in - the ball game was
there any question about the
eventual outcome. The Lions start
ed with a bang at the opening
whistle and jumped to a 10-point
lead before Bucknell scored at the
seven minute mark. •
By halftime the visiting Nittany
courtmen had piled up a com
manding margin of 22 points,
34-11:
The usually high-scoring Buck
,nell front line was impotent as the
Lions proved as good on defense
as they were on the attack. Most
of the home team's scoring was
accounted for by Fahringer, Haines
and Glass who each: tallied five
points.
