Christmas Carol Sing—
A Penn State Tradition
Of Penn State traditions, the an

!popularity is proved by the grow

Thursday, December 18, 8:30
p.m. has been chosen as the time
for strengthening this tradition for
the 1940-'4l term, it was announc

Fraternities Hold
Parties For 'Kids'
Although it's unkngwn to many
students on the campus, frater
nities have played a big part in
Penn State's Christmas spirit in
past years.
Some organizations donated
money, still others distributed
Christmas baskets to needy fam
ilies, but the fraternities deve
loped the plan to play host to a
number of children just before
each Christmas holiday.
Selecting children who would
probably benefit most from these
parties, each house assumed its
part of the plan by inviting a
number of children, usually six or
eight, to share a holiday dinner
and festive program arranged
particularly to entertain the
young guests.
In _many instances, presents
and toys were wrapped and given
to the children, since receiving
gifts tends to, make Christmas
complete in young minds.
All indications show that a sim
ilar plan will be conducted again
this year. However, it is prob
able that some new program may
be substituted for the usual fra
ternity Christmas parties.
