agner Urges Adherence To IFC Code
We, The Women—
Our Penn State
Honor System
CONVERSATIONS among visit
ing Greeks last weekend confirmed
what we had supposed—that most
southern colleges have an honor
system of student government.
•
In such institutions the coeds
report their own offenses and are
requested to report the rule viola
tions of others. They say it works.
Numerous times in the past our
own student government has con
sidered the adoption of the honer
system for Penn State and has
thrown it aside as impractible for
such a large - student body. We
agree with them.
But, portions of an honor system
have always been in effect here.
Student governments can make
rules; however, those codes are
not expected to cover everything.
A rule can be set down but from
there on it is up to the women to
see that it is enforced.
Anyone can find loopholes in
any rule—if she cares to. That is
where the honor- system steps in.
Knowing the spirit behind the rule
and sticking to it is our honor sys 7
tern.

Three-man Board
To Try Violations
"Cooperation of organizations
interested in upholding the IFC
dating code and reports of viola
tions to the Council will be ap
preciated by IFC," declared H. Ed
ward Wagner '4l, IFC president,
who spoke before WSGA Senate
last night.
"Only through cooperation and
effort on the part of all concerned
can the Council see that the.entire
code is carried out," he continued:
Wagner stated that infractions
will be referred to a three-man
board which will hear the case and
penalize offenders or the house,
but added that no violations of the
code have as yet been reported.
Imports are required to observe
the same hours as women students
when visiting men's fraternity
houses as provided in the IFC dat
ing code, according to Wagner. •
The possibility of providing fa
cilities for checking wraps during'
dances ; particularly over big
weekends, to do away with thefts,
was discussed and will be pre

It was stressed that chaperons
are intended to stay until the end
of the social function and until
all women have left the houses.
