White, Mori To Remain Behind
When Lions Leave For Syracuse
Leaving behind them two in
jured mainstays of the undefeated
and untied football team, twenty
nine Lion gridders will depart for
Syracuse this morning in quest of
their sixth straight victory of the
season. Craig White and Wade
Mori, regular right halfback and
guard respectively, will be left
behind with injuries suffered in
the 'South Carolina battle.
Coach Bob Higgins plans two
changes in the starting array to re
place the injured seniors. Len
Krouse, the Lions' most consistent
ground-gainer all year, Will take
care of the wingback spot at the
opening kickoff while Jim Wood
ward; a senior, is slated to draw
the starting assignment at guard
for the first time in his varsity
career.

With Ken Schoonover, sopho
more end, already lost to the squad
with an atack of bronchial pneu
mbnia, the Blue and White will be
minus the services -of three valu
able players. Higgins now has only
three ' ends, Vargo, Parsons and
Van Lenten who have been tested
under fire while Mori's loss may
weaken the center of the line.
Krouse is considered on par with
White.
The Penn State party, headed
by Higgins and Earle Edwards,
end coach, includes the the follow
ing players: ends—Parsons, Vargo,
Van Lenten, Egli, and Shrom; tac
kles-,-Stravinski, Platt, Kniaz, Fr
ketich, and Pollock; guards—Gar
binski, Woodward, Kerns, and
Yoho; •centers—Gajecki, Wear, and
Raysor; quarterbacks—Patrick and
Weaver; left halfbacks Peters,
Petrella, Rice, and Bailey; right
halfbacks Krouse, Day, and
Gramly: fullbacks—Smaltz, Ven
tresco, and Brown.

THE DAILY COLLEGIAN
Nittany Harriers Primed
For Pitt Race Tomorrow
Coming down th:2 home stretch
in the last of their season's dual
meets. the Nittany Lion harriers
'will invade the P:itsburgh Pan
ther lair , tomorrow still seeking
their first dual triumph.
Pittcd against the three best
cross-counry teams in the coun
try, the Lions narrowly suffered
defeat by Michigan State, Syra
cuse, and Manhattan chiefly be
cause their two leading runners,
Al Bourgerie and Herm Goffberg,
were too badly injured to run.
Captain Bill Smith will lead a
sqquad of Chet Snyder, Pop Thiel,
Vern Kotz, Kintigh, Bill Jimeson,
and Archy Hyson against a more
mediocre Panther seven.
"Zeke" Sterner, Panther hill
billy, and Mac McCabe will be
Pitt's outstanding harriers. Stern
er is the harrier who beat Smith
consistently in high school meets.
Booters Face Strong
West Pointers Tomorrow
Again forced to play against
I the rugged type of soccer that
characterized the Syracuse and
Navy games, Bill Jeffrey's soccer
men will face the Army cadets on
New Beaver Field. at 1 p. m. to
morrow.
The West Pointers, always a
strong team, use the powerhouse
tactics that are the exact oppo
site of the Jeffrey way of play
ing. The Cadets have already top
ped Syracuse and M. I. T. this
year but lost to Princeton, 2-0,
whose soccer eleven shares the
Eastern title with Penn State.
Arthur B. (Bud) Boeringer, All-
American center at Notre Dame 14
year ago, still keeps in as good
condition as any of the University
of Detroit linemen he coaches.
