Free Association
To Slop Today
The four-week free association
period among freshmen and trans
fers and sorority women ends to
day. bringing only one important
change in that there is to be no
visiting in sorority houses or suites
except during specified periods of
open house. Sorority women may
visit freshmen and transfers in
their roms, but may be viisted by
them in dormitory roms only. •

by freshman and transfers but
only on a dutch treat basis. Big
Sisters are the only sorority wom
en who may treat freshmen.
Beginning next week and every
other wGek until Christmas vaca
tion, each sorority will hold an
open house- to - which freshmen
and transfers come without spe"-
cial invitation. Announcements
will be made as to time and place
of open houses. Freshmen and
transfers may stay only half an
hour at each house, but may re
visit them at the next open house.
This period of association will
last until Christmas vacation af
ter which theer will be limited
association until final week. Dur
ing the liimted association there
*ill be absolutely no visiting and
no open houses. Final examina
tion week is to be a strict silent
period with no form of contact
between sorority women and
freshmen and transfers.

will speak at a senior engineering
lecture on Friday afternoon at 4:10
p.m. in - room 110 Electrical Engin
eering Building. His subject will
be "Character and Character
Building."

Varsity Debate
Tryouts Tonight
All sophomore, junior, end sen
ior women, including transfers,
are eligible to tryout for the var
sity debate squad in Room 103,
Home Economics Building, at 7:15
p. m. today. There are usually 30
or 40 members of the women's de
bate squad, half of whose debates
are held with men.
Debates are mainly Oregon
style, consisting of two 20-minute
constructive speeches, two 14-
minute cross-examinations, and
two 6-minute summaries. Ortho
dox style and parliamentary dis
cussions are also used during the
year.
Home debates are held on cam
pus, with extension debates sched
uled for Altoona, Bellwood, Cur
wensville, Gallitzin, Hollidays
burg, Montoursville, Mt. Union,
Osceola, Phillipsburg, Port Matil
da, and Tyrone.
Debating is an extra-curricular
activity for which women receive
up to three academic credits. De
baters are eligible for Delta Alpha
Delta, speech professional, and
Delta Sigma Rho, national foren
sic honorary.
U.l. Hockey Team
Will Hold Clinic
The United States Field Hockey
Touring Team will meet a selected
squad of coeds in an exhibition
game and demonstrate correct hoc
key techniques and tactics on
Holmes Field from 3 to 6 p.m. to
day.
Sponsored by Cynthia Wesson,
one of the foremost women's hoc
key promotors in the country, the
touring team is composed of repre
sentatives of such aggregations as
the All-American, British Guinea,
German Cricket Club, Philadel
phia, and Vassar teams.
Included in its itinerary are stops
at Georgia, Illinois, lowa, South
Carolina, Virginia, and Texas Col
leges.
