Biff. League Stuff—
- 1 Reports emanating from. Home,
of the intensification of warfare
along the Libya-Egyptign border
may serve as a hint that the longr
awaited- debut of Premier Musso
linii into big league competition is
near.
' The Italians appear to be turn
ing professional; following lavish
spring training drills with bush
league opponents Ethiopia, Al
bania- anct British Somaliland;, plus
a “night game” in' Spain for the
purpose of sharpening- their bat
ting average. From their dugouts
in Africa foreign correspondents
tell us that- rookie ll' Duce- appears
to be preparing his Fascist club for
an attempted s seizure of'the Egyp
tian franchise in the major league
circuit. : '
. Timed" simultaneously' with
Manager Hitler's; attempt to push
Great- Britain out of the- first divi
sion as the pennant drive ap
proaches, the Black-shirted Fas
cists may eke their way into- the
World' Series* On- the other hand;
injuries might land the Italian
team- in- the cellar.
During-previous campaigns the
Black Shirts have been greatly
aided l by Nazi l coaching and 1 re
placements, but in the- coming
drive Manager Hitler may not be
• able to .farm-, out, his star. Nazis
■through fear of weakening_his own
i aggregation*.
Whether the* Fascists are- enter
ing' the major circuit with- minor
league equipment,, as, many press
box observers- would- have us be
lieve,.. only time will tell.
The Egyptians are a vital part
of the British- chain- system; ,and
it is not likely- that Manager
Churchill will relinquish this im
portant cog by the waiver route,
as he did in the case of, Class D
British Somaliland:
: On the Sudan-Egyptian grounds
on the South i th&- British forces
will have the advantage of en
countering the Fascist powerhouse
on the Egyptian sandlots, which
cover approximately 500 miles
without a water.bucket in sight.
Current rumors are that the
Italian; fans are' not in-- accord, with'
the type of play being fumed in

With this in mind, the Italian-
Egyptian series may .be the decid
ing factor in Manager Benito Mus
solini’s bid- for recognition in the
major leagues. The-Fascists ‘mur
derers’ row” is in- perfect- physi
cal condition, for .the coming tussle,
but a perfect mental attitude must
also be attained to prevent- the
Black Shirts from petitioning for
