Pergrin Announces
Completed Program
For State Parley
Fourteen out of the 82 colleges and universities invited to the
Pennsylvania student government convention to be held here on
March 1, 2 and 3, have already accepted, and many more question
naires are expected before the deadline on Saturday,
David E Pergrin '4O, conven
tion chairman, announced that the
committee had completed plans
concerning the discussions which
will feature the convention's
three-day confab
In an effort to better under
stand the problems of student
government, the representatives
will discuss such topics as stu
dent-faculty relations, athletic
management, and student union
buildings
The student groups will at
tempt to study honor systems used
by many schools during final ex
aminations and advance construc
tive ideas toward the development
of social and recreational privil
eges
They will discuss the plan of
adopting student government for
ums and the use of student com
mittees to confer with faculty
members on curricula changes
Tentative arrangements include
a dinner to be held at Frances
Atherton Hall, Friday, March I,
and a closing banquet scheduled
for the Nittany Lion Inn, Satur
day, March 2, with various fac
ulty members attending both
gatherings
Commenting on the convention,
H Clifton McWilliams, All-Col
lege president, said, "The form of
student government here is as ef
fective as any college or univer
sity student law-governing body
can be It is more or less simple
in structure, but at the same time
a very unified form' of govern
ment.
"Because of this," he continued,
"we believe that we can aid other
schools throughout the state in the
betterment of their organizations
On the other hand, Penn State
government will undoubtedly
benefit from plans and ideas sub
mitted by other representatives",
Unification Stressed
This convention, McWilliams
pointed out, should bring all state
institutions intc, a common bond
and-will-Work fOr their unification
An added incentive will be the op;
portunity to study various tech
nical and liberal arts colleges in
order to learn what advantages
they offer and in what manner and
technique they differ
"Thus by bringing reprebenta
tives,from these schools here," he
concluded, "it will definitely aid
in increasing and developing min a
friendly relations "
