State Holds 4th PlAA.Track Meet Schoolboy Runners to Perform Here Saturday; AA Books Will Admit Holders The fourth annual P.I.A.A. track meet will be conducted here this week end. For the first time, college stu dents will be admitted free, upon pre sentation of their A.A. books. In past years, there has been an admission charge. The sleet itself has grtiwn until now it is recognized as one of the largest high school meets in the East. Several of the members of the pres ent freshman team have come into prominence as the result of perform ances made in this fleet last year. Nick Vukmanic won the' javelin throw with a toss of 206 feet 10 inches. Frank Maule cracked John Woodruff's mile record when be ran the distance in •1 minutes 28 seconds. Bob Hutchings finished second in the, low hurdles race two years ago and last year ran on the Erie Strong Vin cent relay team which broke the old slate record. Roger Maurer and Burt Aikman al so came here after winning state ti tles in the meet here. -Maurer won the broad jump lust year with a.leup .of 22 feet 2 i inches while Aikman.won GOWNS AND PAJAMAS made of printed batiste in new styles EGOLF'S THE PENN STATE COLLEGIAN the 880-yard run two years ago in 2 minutes flat. Most of the attention this year will be centered on Barney Ewell, colored flash from Lancaster high school. Sat urday, in the qualifying district meet, Ewell ran the 100-yard dash in the record time of 9.6 seconds. His time for the 220 was 21:3, also better than the state record. In addition, Barney walked off with first place in the . broad jump. Dick Belyea, junior at Upper Darby high school, will also be very much in the public eye. Belyea ran the half mile in 1:57.1 Saturday. This is the fastest time that has ever been turn ed in for this distance by a Pennsyl vania schoolboy.
