In Victory Over Lehigh

son and he came through in fine form.
pressed to win by 3:29 minutes. This
Al Zazzi easily outdistanced Mark
Wolcott in the 135-pound }division.
He wrestled in his same easy-going
style to win by an advantage of 5:20.
Wolcott took several time - outs during
the bout because of a sore shoulder.
Jack Light, State's 'consistent per
former at 145 pounds, added to a long
string of victories his win over Ed
Hagerman. Hagerman kept away
frcm Ja'ck and spent most of his time
in passive resistance to Light's ad
vances.
Luther Singley deserves credit for
his bout against Lehigh's Bishop,
even though he was pinned by a bar
arm and half nelson in 8:21. This was
Singley's second bout of the season
and he faced a clever and 'aggressive
wrestler in the Engineers' 155-pound
Intercollegiate champ.
Joe Krupa, 165, tallied the longest
time advantage of the match when
he ciocked 8:10 minutes over Jimmy
Ford. Krupa, mucli improved over
last year, completely outwrestled his
opponent.'
Ross Shaffer, 175, made certain the
Lions' win when he defeated Walt
Wells by 5:53 minutes. Lehighuns
had prophesized that Wells was one
wrestler, who would give Thais a bat
tle, but Shaffer thrilled the fans with
his style.

best man. Three hard left hooks aft
er the opening bell rocked Harman,
who fought back but was repeatedly
tied up. As the second stanza began,
Some slipped to the floor and then
surprised Harman by coming up .with
a terrific left hook. 'After 1:45, Soose
unleashed a 'Cross-right that sent
Harman through the ropes.

As predicted; the Kociubinsky-Tor
gerson light•'was a slam-bang slug
fest which turned out to be a weird
affair. , Incensed by the Ritzie deci
sion, Ku tore from his corner and had
the Badger groggy in a few seconds.
But. Torgerson turned the tables and
by landing three to one, had Igo in
bad shape as the round ended. Again
the Nittany sophomore raced from
his Corner at the second bell, and the
tables turned again. A terrific volley
of rights had Torgersen punch-crazy
by 1:48.
Champs on Top
Eastern champions Sammy Donato
and Izzy Richter pummelled their op
ponents to grogginess to earn deci
sions. Welterweight' Sid Hurwitz was
courageous in taking every hard and
clever blow in Donato's repertoire.
That he was not knocked out was due
to the Lion grid leader's sportsman
ship.
Richter avenged his 1030 defeat by
thoroughly beating Verne Woodward,
Wisconsin's giatit heavyweight. Tray
never• hit so hard as he did Saturday
night; on one occasion, he left the
floor as he landed his best blow, the
left hook. As the third round start
ed, Woodward went down for a short
count from a right hook. •
