Fifteen outstanding players from
the three upper-class hockey teams
have been elected to the honorary
hockey varsity. It is particularly
noteworthy that eigiit of the fifteen
players are from the senior team, and
they have been playing together since
their freshman season, with the ex
ception of Emma Jane Foster, who
attended Lingnan University last
year. The varsity was chosen this'
year by Miss Marie Haidt, Jean
XoHhrup, president of the \V. A. A.
board, and Peggy Bratton, hockey
manager.
Members of the team include as
forwards, Emma .Jane Foster '37,
Jean Giddings *3B, Fran Keeslcr '39,
Barbara Lewis '39, Jean Northrup
'37 and Doris Smith '37. Members
playing halfback are Amy Blandy '39,

The initial rifle turn-out Thursday
was unusually promising with 115
prospects for this year’s squad. The
second practice will be in the Armory
Tuesday at 4 o’clock and members of
last year’s squad arc requested to be
present. Kay Greiner has been elect
ed the sophomore assistant to the rif
le manager and Marian Skladal the
freshman assistant.

Senior Engineers Hear
Talk on Personality
“Personality, because it is a sub
jective rather than objective quality,
is very difficult to define. “It is the
summation of one’s knowledge, plus
physical characteristics plus will plus
emotional reactions and the integral
combination of these.” These state
ments were issued by Dr. E. B. Rob
erts of the W'cstinghousc Electric and
Manufacturing company of Pitts
burgh who spoke to senior engineers
at the Home Economics auditorium
last Friday.
In his lecture Roberts used an equi
lateral triangle and a square to il
[lustrate his points. He selected these
figures because of the similarity of
their structural relationship to the
quality relationships of life.
By substituting the physical, men
tal, and social qualities of a person
for the sides of these geometric fi
gures, Roberts showed that the gen
eral makeup of the personality of an
individual could be determined. The
mental qualities being scholarship,
analytical and thinking ability; the
social are - poise, cooperation, and a
sense of human value; and the phy
sical; health, energy, endurance, and
physique.
