keep 'up their present• rate of speed.

Mattmen Defeat Navy
Here Saturday Night
(Continued front page three)
en a terrific hand from the audience
at the end. Scammy Dißito gave,
Navy's undefeated Tipton consider
able opposition and exhibited some
deft wrestling, even though he did
harass the audience with his slow
ness in crawling back onto the mat.
In the 135-pound class, Jack Light
and Logan Cresap were both unde
feated, both had cauliflowering ears,
and both were powerful. Besides this,
both were in flawless condition. Jack
had a two minute time advantage at
the end of the regular period. But
Referee Clarence Foster set a preced
ent and decreed that the bout should
go into extra periods. The intercol
legiate rules leave the matter up to
the referee's discretion, but this was
the first time that it has been car
ried into effect here. Light won them
both by a comfortable margin..
In the next weight, Sully Waite
won his rough-and-tumble bout with
John Merryman by a four minute
time advantage. The viciousness with
which the two men piled into each
other was breath-taking. Merryman .
took Waite to the mat in ten seconds,
and - the two men changed positions
eight times in the first two minutes.
Toward the end, Waite's superior
condition won out and he nearly threw
him -with a cradle, but the Navy man
slipped out.
In the 155-pound class, Bill Cra
mer overcame terrific odds to defeat
Adams in the extra period. The ref
eree again called an extra period, al
though Adams had a two minute ad
vantage. The handicaps which Bill
overcame were that lie was up
against the best man on the Navy
team; that he weighed eight pounds
less than Adams; and that he was
knocked senseless near the end of the
regular period. At the beginning of
the first extra period, Bill slipped in
to a beautiful cross-body ride and
held Adams, for- the full three min
utes. In the next period he repeated
.with the same hold to win.

the slippery Cy Cole and threw him

over four minutes. In the final meet,

gest surprise:of the'meet by pinning
Schacht in fo'ur minutes.
