Bane of Unwashed
Boys Assumes New
Role in Sculpture
Soap—long the bane of unwashed
small boys, the' malefactor that causes
unwary, bathers to perform eccentric
gyrations in the tub—has finally come
into its own, as an excellent medium
for small sculpture. Little Willie,
now handed a cake of soap, is quite
likely to prove to astounded parents
that he is a budding Phidias or Prax
items.
That soap sculpture is no longer a
fad is shown ,by the fact that ; over
2,000 models were submitted ii?,..the
ninth annual contest-for small-sculp
tures in soap, conducted recently by
a well-known soap company. •
Over . seventy. of these models are
now on display in the exhibit room
of the Carnegie library,_ including-sev
eral prize winners. The' models in
clude Roman masks and studies in
