Casting off the spell of defeat that
has enshrouded Lion yearling grid
teams for the past three years, the
freshman eleven outsmarted a plod
ding Bellefonte Academy team, 14-
to-0, here Saturday afternoon.
, Coach Nels Walke’s lads played a
smoother brand of football than they
showed against the Pitt freshmen last
week. Among other things, they
made a habit of recovering Bellefonte
fumbles and their own.kicks near the
Academy goal line to their special
advantage.
The Lion scores came in the first
and third periods of the game. After
kicking to Bellefontc’s twenty-yard
stripe, the yearling gridders grabbed
the ball on a fumble. F. O’Hara
broke away around right end for a
touchdown on the next play and
Cooper made the extra point good.
Changes Lineup
Late in the third quarter, the Nit
tany freshmen completed a twenty
yard pass, and marched steadily down
the field to the Bellefonte one-yard
line. Cooper took the ball over the
goal and again made a placement

Fighting desperately and present

erford soccer team again made a de
termined effort to down the Lion for
the first time, but once again the Lion
asserted his supremacy, as the Nit
tany booters defeated the Main
Liners at Haverford by a 3-to-l score
Saturday.
"With the start of the game Haver
ford unloosed a well-planned attack
working the ball toward the Nittany
goal with machine-like precision and
Ted Brown, Orange and Black center
forward, succeeded in kicking a goal
within the first minute of play.
Lions Take Offense
Immediately the Jeffrey-coached

on the Haverford team was kept on
the defense until the end of the con
