Watts, of the School of Agriculture, has been recently awarded an honorary degree of doc tor of science by Rhode Island State .College in recognition of his distin guished service to agriculture. Graduating from Penn State in 1890, Dean Watts served for the next nine years as horticulturist of the Tennessee Agricultural experiment station. In 1899 he cntcicd the field of market gardening near Johnstown, lecturing during the winter in Penn sylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey Dean Watts was appointed profes sor of horticulture here in 1908 and served in this capacity until 1912 when he was appointed dean and di rector of the School of Agriculture and Experiment station In 191 G he was honored with the degree of doc tor of agriculture from Syracuse University.
