May 2 has been set as the date for
Move-up Day exercises, according to
the decision of Student Council Tues
day night...when the group also sanc
tioned maintenance of six men on the
upnerelass cheerleading staff.

Movc-up Day arrangements Charles

Outlining the Buy's program, Wal
ter said that the celebration would be
held on Holmes field W11C1.2 it took
place last year with the traditional
freshman-sophomore tug of wai and
class move-up ceremonies President
Ralph D. Hetzel is scheduled to speak
at the celebration as well as the pres
ident, v.ho retire from then offices
on this date.

athletics, the football coach, and the
athletic association president, as is

Dr. Fred Lewis Patter will tetinn

begin his second annual series of lec
tures The talks, evteifding ftom
Monday to Friday, will have as a gen
mai topic "The Literature of Today,"
and will be delivered et 4.15 o'clock
each afternoon in the Little Theatre,
Old Main.
After serving for thirty-four years
as head of the English department
here, Dr Pattie left the College two
years ago for a part-tune position
as special lecturer at Rollins college,
Winter Haven, Fla. While serving in
this capacity, he has continued on the
College faculty as emeritus profes
sor of American literature. Dr. Pat-
tee composed the words to the Alma
Mater while a professor bete.
As the first topic for his series of
Natures, Dr Patten has chosen
"Phases of the Novel: Dresser" This
talk will be followed by "The News
paper Column as a New Literary
Evolution," while on the following
afternoon the professor emeritus is ill
discus, "The Nobel Lem is" His next
subject will be, "The Poetry of the
Future," and he has chosen for his
