Instructors Supertise Organization
Of Foresters Into 3 Crews
Fourteen times during the present
school year students at the Mont Alto
Forestry School hale been called out
to fight major forest fires, according
to Professor John A. Ferguson, head
of the school
For the purpose of fire fighting the
students hese been permanently or
pawed into three crews, each with its
own leaders and under the immediate
supers :mon of instructors and State
forest fire officials. During the past
year a total of 1,619 hours were &_-
sated to emergency field work of this
nature.
In addition to this work students
spend one day each week in the Mont
Alto State forest and nursery. Here
thou study the use of wood tools, and
obtain a clear conception of the prac
tical problems encountered in the ad
ministration of large forest areas.
