School was established in 1903 to pro
vide technically trained men to handle
the State-owned forests. It is located
on the Mont Alto State Forest in the
South Mountains bordering the Cum
bciland Valley, near the village of
Mont Alto and about 10 miles south
of Chambersburg. It is nekt to the
oldest existing forest school in Amer
ica. Its location on the Mont Alto
State Forest affords one of the best
out-door laboratories for forestry in
struction possessed by any forest
school in America. This forest has
been under careful management for
20 years. Adjoining the School are
23,000 acres of State-owned finest
land and a forest tree nursery with
