Gobrecht '3O Grace M. Woodrow '3O CONFLICTING LOYALTIES The term loyalty seems to be a in oduct of the natural instinct, gi egariousness. Our , social ten dencies have built up for us, a sort of honor code and the first i ule of that code is meeting one's obligations. Out of this sometwhat ,primi tive law have come all of out traditions and loyalties of today. In fact sometimes loyalty and fidelity get such a grip on us that we lose sight of our obligations entirely. We feel so 'strongly our responsibility toward an in dividual of a group that either the welfare of the group is tits regarded; or we halt in indecis ion at the conflict of loyalties: At this stage ih the game I ea son must come , to the rescue. A distinction must ,be made be tween real and "blind" loyalties and true obligations must not'be shrouded in sentimentalism. Class of '32Takes Initiative In Art Of Cheer Leading At last Penn State is to have girl cheerleaders! It hardly seems possi ble that the girls have begun this long talked-of project. Unless there is a de cided drop in interest, which the meet ing of dust Monday evening does not seem to allow possible, we will soon see girls (in blue and white perhaps) leading not only the Freshman class songs .but Penn State songs as well, 'lnd Penn State cheers. A low of the uppeiclass girls have expiessed a willingness to come out to the, piactices which the men have promised to help make successful. One Sophomoie had coinage enough to lead the Freshmen in their song last Monday evening after "Woody" had taught it to the girls. The success .of the project remains to be seen, but the by-standees me saying "More power to you, Frosh " NEW GIRLS REPORT' FOR GLEE CLUB REHEARSAL More than twenty new girls report ed for the first rehearsal of the Gill's Glee Club in the Schwab Auditorium Tuesday evening, Making the total enrollment of tile organization this year approximately -forty-five voices.
