THE HE-SHE DANCE
To girls r•ho arc new to Penn
State, and to the old girls too, a
word about our annual He-She
dance would seem to be in order.
This is the occasion when 'Wo
men students show the men that
men are not an essential in the in
gredients for a good tone Any
girl who can lead m dancing dons
her boy-lricnds garments (this is
where the boys come in handy—to
lend their clothes) and escorts her
iaotn-mate or some other girl to
the bit dance
Some girls who hme never been
to a dance of this type are Inclined
to be skeptical as to whether it is
possible to have a good time with
"just girls" Anyone who has at
tended will tell vou enthuisatically
that it Is
Of course it would not be fun to
do it all the time, but a few times
a year it is good for the girls to
learn that they can have a goo.]
time by themselves In a co-edu
cational college like Penn State it
is ens; for the girls to learn to , zet
along with the men It is so easy
that they devote very little time to
learning to play and get along with
each other _
If one stops to realize it, most
of a woman's time alter she leaves
vellege will be spent in the society
of women, whether she teaches,
gets married, or goes into some
,branch of business What an out
cast she will be, and what a tone
she will have making friends it
her only accomplishment in this
art is handing a mon a "line"
The two all-girls dances and the
parties which the girls have in the
dormitories on occasions like Hal
lowe'en and Christmas are really
more beneficial than most people
realize because of the way in which
they teach the girls to have a good
tune among themselves
Therefore any girl who refuses
to gc to the He-She dance and sim
ilar functions lust because there
die no men present is letting slip
through her hands one of the big
gest opportunities which college til
lers her to prepare to adjust her
self to life as she will meet it atter
