BOUCKE DESCRIBES
BUSINESS SUCCESS
Penn Slate Economist Speaks
On Several Factors in
World of Trade
EMPHASIZES SYMPATHY
AS PRINCIPLE REQUISITE
"Many other factors depend on suc
cess in the world of business besides
brok knowledge and Icaining," was
the opinion of Dr. 0. F Boucke, head
of the economics department, in his
address ;to - Pi Lambda Sigma, honor
ary pre-legal fraternity, in Room 15
Liberal Arts Wednesday night.
"Sympathy is one of the foremost
things in the business world," con
tinued Doctor Boucke. "One must
feel with a man, instead of for him,
and should put himself in the other's
place for once " The Penn State ec
onomist described Abraham Lincoln
as a rare example of sympathy pen
ossified He declared further that to
gain the felloWrship of his associates,
man most learn to be sympathetic
toward men and to adapt himself to
them
Stresses Dependability
Doctor Boucke hated dependability
as another requirement to success.
Stressing the importance of this qual
ity, he declared "We must learn to
depend on persons and things. Under
dependability, there comes thorough
ness, neatness and economy Thor.
oughness implies suffniency of struc
ture, cleanness and non-bound logic as
reason."
In concluding, Doctor Bourke stated
that man's habits of yesterday are the
soil in ishich the' future success is
planted A job can be made big seas
