Since the opening of Penn Stale's
eighteen-hole golf corn so, throngs of
enthusiasts and physical education
students have trod its fait ways and
each d.w the ranks of those waiting to
take off me swelling.
Coach Rutherfoid has six men noth
ing on the greens every day and is
leaving nothing undone to make the
lay-out one of the finest in the coun
tiv. At present the fairway and
gieens me in the best of condition.
The entne distance over the new
course is G5OO yards. The longest
hole is the second with a measure
ment of 577 yaids and the shot test
hole is mimboi fifteen, 155 yaids long

All kinds of hazards and tiaps have
been provided and the only thing that

In oi del to keep a smooth play on
the links, a code of mlcs for the stu
dents has been formulated and posted

ment that the course is for students
only but others may use it by paying
a gi ecus fee of two dolluis daily
The list of regulations applying to
the entile course is ns follows:

Is Legend Of Pan
To bung out the historical signifi
cance of May Day is the object of the
pageant which the Lommlttee, headed
by Miss B J Kiauso '27, has planned
for May twenty-mirth The program
is more elaboiate than in previous
vears and various episodes me given
historical unity foi this tiuilitional
spring festival
Following the prologue, which was
written by Miss Loclilm of the facul
ty, comes the transformation of Win
ter into Spring, the gicctrng of Spung
by the maidens and the march to the
green where the May queen is crown
ed. In this part of the program the
dancers aie costumed as peasants,
since the May festival onginatod as
a rustic celebration
The last episode, a play woven about
the legend of Pan, pictuies tire undy
ing charm which Pan’s fiscmatmg
frolic, the dance, holds for all people
With costumes designed in the st\le of
long ago and with the old country
dances of meny England, this May
Day promises to bring a lare bit of
“Old English” to the Penn State cam
