In connection with his duties of
administration of the Agi icultural
college, Associate-picsidcnt Chung
has tra\elled in almost every coun
tty and continent of the woild In
vestigation of the methods of teach
ing and manner of orgnnwation and
control m the various colleges, has
formed the chief object of his tours
When discussing the foundation of
Canton Christian college, Mr Chung
described his v.oik as feeding the coal
for the machine of which “Daddy”
Groff was the engineer. Early a
student of Confucianism, Dr Chung
had obtained a first and two second
degrees from the government pnor
to the republican revolution m 1893.
About the same year he was con

study of western religious, ethical
and social life in the elementary
schools of Canton Christum college.
During the Boxer rebellion in 1899,
he preserved the work by removing
I the school to Macao, from whence it
was returned to Canton m 1904.
First Trip
A fourteen-month tup tluough
the United States and Europe in
1910, gave Dr. Chung his first view
of the actual workings of the schools,
colleges and universities of other
countries. Three years later, the
vice-president spent a year in gradu
ate study at Teachers college in New
York. At this time he was Dean of
the College of Agriculture, becoming
associate president in 1920
Dr. Chung is, at present, devoting
his time to a campaign for funds
among the Chinese merchants of this
country, all the republics of South
America and the West Indies. He ar
livod in the .eastern part of the
United States a few davs ago but
stated that he could not long remain
and icgretted thnt he could not stay
here more than one day.
“I wish all the Chinese people,” he
said in speaking of his attitude on
the situation in the Asiatic Empire,
“to take the responsibility for the
