Will Clash At Commencement
—For Benefit of Red Cross
The Penn State etudent body and
commencement guests will be privileged
to see ono of the best wrestling bouts
ever Maffei In the local Armory on
Monday evening, April 22nd, of the com
mencement celebration. The moot noted
grapplers that ever wore the Blue and
Whits will appear against the present
championship team and the lapse of
time may prove the "old Wks" still on
the lob The best wreatiers wild have
represented Penn State In forme years
are being invited to participate and
many of them have signified their Inten
tion of coming to take part
It le quite probable that "Shorty"
Long 'l6. en-captain and 116-pound
wrestler for several 3 ears and a brother
of the present "Shorty", will be paired
with Floret The former boo consented
to return and a Penn State group knows
what to expect when two men of thin
caliber clash. Brown, a former Blue
and White wearer and a brother of the
present 2Browney", has consented to
wrestle against the best 126-pounder
that can bo encored and It is quite prob
able that Poulkman, an old-timer will
be matched with him.
"Dee" Lewis May he Bore
Captain Long will compete in the 136
Or 145-pound class, but In either class
he will face men of the highest caliber.
Mills, the Blue and White scissors mo
nopolter, will bo his opponent if he
wrestles in the former weight. None
other than our own "Doc" Lewis, who
succeesfully coached Penn State mat
teams for many years, will be hie oppo
nent if ho wrestles in the 145-pound
weight, and he promisee to bring forth
all the experielna ho hos gained In the
army when he opposes "Shorty."
Pickett, a former State 168-pounder,
is the niara chosen to compete with
Brown, and no ono will doubt for a
moment that there will be lots of thrills
when them two men get into action
"Chuck" Verger 1. In for hie share of
the sport and "Dm" Very Is the man
chosen to face him This will make a
whirlwind bout, as both men are of the
highest class
Aho "Fightlog Bob"
An Invitation has been extended to
"Fighting Bob Higgins, to grapple with
Nolan in the 171-pound ohms, and It le
quite probable that these two men will
be seen In action on the big night. Pen
man, a former State heavy, has bean
invited to meet Czarnecki and if he le
able to get leave of absence he will be
aeon in action. Many of the student.
now in college remember the "lights" that
these too followers of the mat game
were able to present, and they promise
to repeat.
Invitations have ale. been extended to
Shollenberger, Stocker and Raeber, all
former mat men of the Nittany insti
tution, to compete In the events and It
le probate that several booth in addi
tion to those already listed will be stag
ed About six of the men have signified
their intention of returning and the meat
are yet to be heard from, but It in more
than likely that they will all answer in
the affirmative The affair will be for
the benefit of the Red Crone, and such
an efent should make a neat little sum
for the Stole College Chapter. Cap
tain-elect Doter wilt be the °MUM ref
eree for the matches
