The following members of the
faculty attended the annual meeting
of the Pennsylvania State Educa
tional association which met at
Harrisburg the first four days of
the week beginning December 28:
President E. E. Sparks, Dr. L. W.
Rapeer, Mr. E. L. Bowman, Pro
fessor R. Ernesti, Dr. E. R. Smith,
Professor Hugo Diemer and Pro
fessor T. I. Mairs. The principal
address on Monday evening was
given by Doctor Sparks whose
topic was “How to Grip the Boy”.
Doctor Rapeer read a paper on
"The Standard Rural School
Plant”, and Mr. Bowman one on a
topic relating to industrial educa
tion.
Dean W. R. Crane delivered a
lecture on “Alaska” at Lock Haven
on Friday evening, January 8. He,
also, was one of our faculty repre
sentatives at the meeting of the As
sociation for the Advancement of
Science which was held during the
Christmas holidays at the Univer
sity of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Harry T. Codings, of the
German department, attended the
Modern Language association, held
at Columbia university, December
29-31.
Prof. C. 0. Harris took advan
tage of the vacation to attend the
joint meeting of the American
Philological association and the
Archaeological Institute of America
which was held at Haverford Col
l;ge December 29-31. The last
session of the meeting was held at
Houston Hall, University of Penn
sylvania under the auspices of the
Pennsylvania Society of the Archae
ology Institute, in order to hear
Prof. George H. Chase, of Harvard,
report upon the progress of the
American excavations on the site of
ancient Sardis.
Dr. Edward Howard Griggs, the
well known author and lecturer of
New York, has been secured for a
series of five lectures to be given
during this year’s summer session.

ed in the old flag room of the State
Library at Harrisburg. The exhib
it will remain in place most of the
month and is attracting no little at
tention in the Capital City.
Alumni Notes
A. Sherman 'l4, is employed as
assistant chemist at the State Col
lege of Washington.
“Shorty” Moyer T 4, has the
position of teacher of chemistry at
the Bloomsburg High School.
Howard M. Keefler ’ll, was mar
ried to Miss Anna Mary Rumberg
er, of Fillmore, Pa., during the
Christmas holidays. Keefler is at
present located in Sao Paulo,
Brazil.
R. E. Baldwin T 4, is in the em
ploy of one of the largest of Du-
Pont factories in New Jersey.
Baldwin is a chemist and was form
erly employed in that capacity in
Louisville, Ky.
W. I. Alexander ’ll, is at present
an electrical engineer in the con
struction department of the Ebro
Power and Irrigation company in
Tremp, Spain.
John Ludwig ’l4, is in the em
ploy of the West Virginia Pulp and
Paper company at Tyrone.
J. P. Lawrence is with the Good
year Rubber company in Akron,
Ohio.
H. H. Geist ’ll, is now in Fotts
ville with the Reading Coal and
Iron company.
W. H. McKinney is at present in
Kennet Square. He is doing work
for the college.
Debating
Mr. Marshman has divided the
debating squad into eight teams
which are to enter into trial contests
on the last four evenings of this
week. From these trials he will
select those men who are to repre
sent the college in the coming inter
collegiate debates.
