Johns Hopkins University will inaugurate a push-ball soap for the first time between the fresh men and sophomore classes. It is hoped that greater class spirit will be secured by this means. A large number of students of both sexes at Swarthmore are up in arms against' the stringent social rules in force at that college. More social functions and less restrictions are the demands. The honor system is meeting with both successes and reverses. At F. &M. it has been adopted at Yale it has met with defeat. That it can be enforced has been shown by the fact that the Univer sity of Chicago recently punished 14 students for cheating in exami nations. Athletic authorities at Lafayette are considering a rule by which scholarship will be made a very im portant factor in the selection of assistant managers for athletic teams. The Swarthmore Co-Eds have decided that they will hold a track meet this year instead of the cus tomary May Day Dance. The students at W.> & J. have de cided that no smoking will be per mitted on the campus during school hours. Lafayette College has honored Mayor Blankenburg of Philadelphia by conferring upon him the degree of Doctor of Laws. A New Chemistry Society. The sophomore straight chemists have recently organized into an as sociation which is to be known hereafter as the T. T. Society and whose purpose is to stimulate and cultivate an interest in scientific matters. Meetings are held on every second Wednesday evening, subjects interesting and profitable to those studying chemistry are brought up and discussed, papers on scientific subjects are prepared and read, and the good time ele ment is encouraged along with the more serious side of affairs. The society, though small, is an am bitious one, and once on its feet, it expects to do big things. Sphinx Elections. The following members of the sophomore class have been elected into the honorary society of the Sphinx; W. W. Wood, G. E. Hes selbacher, R. E. Geary, H. C. Yer ger, Jr., C. C. McDowell, L. R, Austin, B. C. Jones, W. C. Schroed er, J. A. Watson. Drill Exercise.
