THE THESPIANS
Tuesday June 10 in Their Six-
teenth Annual Production
Everyone that saw this years
production of the Thespians will
undoubtedly remember the remark
ably clever plot and the very
catchy music, which along with the
ability shown by the entire cast
and chorus, made the Yankee
Brigands one of the best shows
ever staged by the organization.
The same men that appear
ed inthe previous performance
will be seen in this show,
and with the experience attained
through the six shows ,as
given on the very successful trip
during Easter vacation, they should
make a more decided hit than
when seen here for the first time.
With the "Swing Song" and
"Hold Em State", two songs from
the show that every-one is singing
and Whistling, made more promi
nent than in the former production,
and with the many added features,
this last performence of the Yankee
Brigands should make a very favor
able impression on the audience
which will see the show in the
Auditorium on .Tuesday June 10.
The dates of the various ticket
sales will be posted on the bulletin
boards around the College.
BY THE WAY
The day of the poor professor is
apparently a thing of the past.
The modern professors and instruc
tors are highly paid men. The
average wages for professors and
instructors in the following univer
sities is as stated:
Columbia, $2,000 a year; Har
vard, $2,000; Cornell, $2,000; Yale,
$3,000; Princeton, $3.030; Michigan,
$4,000; and Stanford, $5,000.
The will of Miss Margaret Van
Deursen, an aged spinster, of
Middletown, Conn., reveals the fact
that Wesleyan University lost a
fortune because some eight or ten
years ago students stole Miss Van
Deursen's pet cat for experimental
purposes in the biological labora
tory. The owner was heartbroken.
It was then that she changed her
will, cutting off without a penny
the university which was to have
been bequeathed most of ,her
estate.
Dr. David Starr Jordan, president
of Leland Stanford Junior Univer
sity, has resigned and his place will
be filled by John Casper Banner.
Dr. Jordan vacated his office as
head of the university to accept
that of chancellor, which will be
created by the board of trustees
next Friday for his special benefit.
In his new position he will work for
the world peace movement.
Valuable Gitt to the College
Full length portraits of President
Sparks and General James A Bea
ver, by Hildebrandt, of New York,
will be presented to the college at
commencement, and will be added
to the art collection in the Carnegie.
The portraits, which are exceed
ingly valuable, are the gifts of Mr.
J. G. White 'B2
Mr. S. C. Long, General Man
ager of the Pennsylvania Railroad
will be in State College, with a
number of others, on June 11. It
is to be hoped that better railway
connections will follow.
