Best Meet of the Season Promised
for Saturday.
What promises to be an excep
tionally close contest will he held
on New Beaver Field on Saturday
when Penn State meets University
of, Virginia for the first time in
history in a dual track and field
meet. Virginia has one of the
strongest teams in her history.
Several of her men won places at
the Penn Relays and there is no
doubt that the Blue and White will
have to put forth her best efforts
if she expects to win.
In the Niels on Saturday much
improvement was shown in the
work of the men in the various
events. The trials resulted as fol
lows, the men's names being given
in the order in which they fininshed:
100 yard dash—Piner, White,
Dolbin, 10 seconds.
220 yard dash--Piner, White,
Dolbin, 22 3-5 seconds.
440 yard dash—Erb, Mason,
IVlichener, 52 seconds.
Half mile run—Leyden, Lewis,
Fulkman, 1 minute, 58 3-5 seconds.
Mile run—Horst, Fisher, Hen
ning, 4 minutes, 40 seconds.
Two mile—Keyser, Staiger,
Fietz, 9 minutes, 59 seconds.
120 yard hurdles—Hammitt,
Armsby, Brown. 16 2-5 seconds.
220 yard hurdles—Tic, Hammitt
and Arrnsby, Brorrn, 26 1-5 sec
ond:.
Broad jump—Armsby, Palmer,
Henry, 21 feet, 8 inches.
High jump—Armsby, Pickett,
Elliot, 5 feet, 7 inches.
Pole vault—Hays, Mabee, Car
