    Baltimore Alumni Active
The Baltimore Alumni held a
meeting at the Hotel Emerson, Feb.
20, at which a new constitution was
adopted and the election of officers
made. The officers elected under
the new constitution are : F. W.
Strouse 'B7, president; J. E.
Scheuler '97, first vice president
W. P. Beyerle '99, second vice
president; M. Q. Corbett, 'll third
vice president; R. B. Clapp 'll,
secretary and treasurer.
At present there are about
twenty-seven alumni near Balti
more, all of whom are welcome to
membership. As it is a well known
fact that men working together can
accomplish much more than indi
vidually, all the Penn State men in
the vicinity are urged to join the
association.
School of Mines Notes
Dr. J. F. Kemp, Professor of
Geology, Columbia University
and President of the American In
stitute of Mining Engineers, gave an
illustrated lecture in the Old Chap
el, Monday evening, February 24th,
under the auspices of the Mining
and Civil Engineering Societies.
His subject "Catskill Aqueduct
of New York and the Application
of Geology to Great Engineering
Enterprises" was treated by him in
a very thorough and interesting
manner. The lecture was well at
tended.
The movement for an appropria
tion toward building a new Mining
Building is being enthusiastically
received by the mine operators and
miners organizations throughout the
state. Anyone caring to aid in the
movement can procure circulars at
the Dean's office.
A lifting pump will be installed
at Thompson's Spring to supply
water for the Disposal Plant, the
college farms and the Hydraulics
Laboratory,
