Leland Powers Mr. Leland Powers in concluding the last entertainment of the Y. M. C. A. course recited the original Irish drama, The Shaughraun, by Dion Boucicault. The piece was exceedingly well arranged, and Mr. Powers' interpretation of the various characters was excellent. Mr. Powers proved his originality and his genius by assuming the vastly different parts of both male and female personalities in a most realistic manner, and the evening was in consequence possibly one of the most enjoyable spent in the whole course. One can easily comprehend from Mr. Powers' work, that he is a man who makes impersonation and reci tative work a fine art, and judging from his repertoire, one can easily recognize the fact that he upholds certain high literary standards. This entertainment was a very excellent climax to the V. M. C. A. course, and the apparent success of the course this year should pave the way for an even more success ful one next year. Here and there one at times hears criticism in re gard to these various entertain ments. If those who criticise will but realize what consideration they are receiving for their 25 cents, and at the same time compare this with what they could see in a city for the same amount of money, they will recognize the absurdity of their statements.
