Very and let us all hail the new leader of 1912, Captain J. L. Mauthe. . COLLEGE NOTES January 11, 12, and 13 are the registration days for the second semester. G. C. Chandlee 'O4, formerly an instructor in chemistry, and who has been engaged in work along practical lines for the last three years, will return to his former po sition in the department of Chemis try at the beginning of next semes ter, Plans have been submitted to the State Board of Health for the new sewage disposal plant and five sites have been offered, all being between State College and Lemont. As soon as one of these locations is de cided upon, the work of conttiuc tion will begin. Dr. Baker has resigned his posi tion as head of the forestry depai t ment to accept a call to the Uni versity of Illinois. H. M. Glazier, instructor in Architectural thawing, has resigned and will go into practical work. W. H. Out of 541 new students regis• tered as freshmen, only 5 have been dropped from college so far this semester. This is a remarkable record in as much as it eclipses in this respect the showing made in former years. The Minor Spirts constitution was unanimously adopted by the members of the Athletic Associa tion at the Wednesday morning mass meeting. The Engineering Experiment Station will, in a short time, issue a bulletin on "Hot Blast Heating, fot Factories and Shop Buildings." The bulletin will be about eighty pages in leugth, and the text will be illustrated. Professor Wood has begun the work of recalibrating the dynamo meter car. The excavation and grading for the foundations of the new Engi neering Extention is about com pleted, and construction wol lc will soon be started. New Penitentiary Plans The options for the new State penitentiary site, which is to be lo cated in the region of the Peru sta tion on the road between State Col lege and Bellefonte, were submitted to Gov. John K. Tener and Attor ney General John C. Bell the first of this week at Harrisburg. The site takes in over 4000 acres of valuable agricultural and timber lands. They also discussed at that time the matter of starting to work on plans for the new institution, and the proposition to consolidate the Western and Eastern Penitentiaries. AL a recent meeting of the Senior class of the Univeisity of Chicago it was announced that the moustaches of the Senior men should be shaved off at once, and that anyone who is caught with that "hirsute" adorn ment should be cast into the swim ming tank. Basketball has been chopped at Trinity. The manager submitted his schedule to the faculty, but they would not approve it, and have for bidden any games. Unity has thus been forced to cancel all her games. The students, however, are taking steps to ha‘ e this action re considered. Harrisburg Club Dance The Harrisburg Club will hold its Second Annual Univcrsity Dance. Tu sday evening, December 26, at the Masonic Temple, Harrisburg. Undergraduates and alumni of this college or of any other college or university of this country are in vited to attend. This dance tends to be one of the biggest during Chi istmas week at Harrisburg. Also, on Wednesday afternoon the club members will hold a thea tre patty at the Oipheum. Geo. W. Groff Married Notice has been received of the marriage of Geoige Weidman Groff 'O7, to Miss Eva Ai v illa Brinser on Tuesday December 19, 1911 at Harrisburg.
