    Mr. Lassalle , Gains Advancethent
Leopold Joseph Lassalle, in-
structor in Physics, has recently re
ceived an appointment to a fellow
ship in the Departinent of Physics
and in the Ogden School of Sciences
of the University of Chicago. This
is an unusual and very flattering
favor to one who is in no way con- -
nected with that institution. After
completing his duties ,here for the
year, Mr. Lassalle will avail him
self of this splendid opportunity for
study and advancement by taking
up work which will lead to a Doc
tor's degree from that university
He will be granted a leave of ab
sence for a year and a half and at
the expiration of that time it is ex
pected that he will return to the
position he now holds.
Mr. Lassalle was graduated from
Louisiana State University in 1908
and served as an insteuctor in
that . institution the following
year. During the summer, of 1909,
he studied at the University
of Chicago whence I e came to
"State" to assume the duties of in
structor in the Physics, department.
While here, he has completed a
thesis for a , Master's 'degree which
will b- conferred on him by this
College in June.
Sunday Evening Concert.
On Sunday evening in the Audi
torium the Cadet Band gave the
fourth of a 'series of fine concerts.
The last concert will be given , in
about three weeks and it is to be
hoped that it will be given on the
Front Campus. Under the leader
ship of 'P. M. Snavley 'l2, the Cadet
Band' has made rapid progress in
their work. Untiring efforts and
constant preparatioh alone could
bring out the perfecton which was
shown by this concert. The cornet
solo "St.renade" by W. A. Moyer
was a pleasing part of the program.

1911 Takes Another.
Nineteen Eleven defeated , the
Juniors 9to 1 last Monday. Nei
ther side was able to score until the
fifth inning, when the Seniors took
the lead with. three runs. In the
following inning, the Seniors scored
their other six runs due to their
heavy hitting and errors on the part
of the Juniors. Sheldon's hit in
the last inning sent a 1912 man
across the plate scoring the Juniors'
lone run. ,
