THURSDAY, MAY 11, 1911 The Cld The old Penn State Spirit spirit of cheering for visit ing athletic teams as strongly as we do for our own was well exemplified in the Bucknell Meet on Saturday; and the spirit of fair play is an asset which we should forever cherish as part of our college code. But should not this spirit be extended to other fields than , that of the track, the gridiron, or the diamond ? The poor attention accorded the Chapel speaker on Sunday was a distinct exception to our theory of the "square deal." When similar happenings have occurred before, we have be n appealed to from the standpoint of politeness and of gentlemanly conduct. Since, • for , self evident reasons, that appeal has failed in its effect, it seems that the o± li remaining solution is to call upon college spirit. If for no other reason, then, than to uphold our ideal of fair play, let us recieve in an honorable manner every visitor who comes to us, _and let us treat each one in a way that will not tar nish Or mar our record of clean, square, conduct. Game The game schedules Schedules issued by C: W. Smith of the Toggery shop are very neatly and conveniently arranged. The cards give' the, date of our baseball, interclass baseball, and track events with space reserved for noting the scores, and Mr. Smith deserves praise for supplying a dollege need in so ct.mplete and convenient a mariner Sophomore 3 Awarded Game The senior—sophomore ,game of last Saturday came to an abrupt ending in the s . .xth inning with the score stanci . ng 7 to 6 in the sopho mores' favor. In this inning Mason 1911 rejched first base safely. Caruthers the next batter bunted a ball towards first base, which Um pire Sheldon called foul. The seniors rtfused to accept Sheldon's decision and he awarded the game to the sophomores. The seniors have protested the game.
