company—and I have seen Booth,
Henry Irving, Richard Mansfield,
and Jacob Adler companies in the
play. There is not a single "genius"
in the cast, but the play is a unity.

intended, and so has the ear marks
of a work of art and beauty as a
whole,"
The Merchant of Venice will be
given by one of the two companies
now touring the United States under
the direction of Mr. Greet—the
company that is devoting itself en
tirely to the more serious plays of
Shakespeare.
Everybody playing all sorts of
parts is the scheme, and it is one
which makes their productions nota
ble for their all around smoothness,
and has developed the finest actors
on the English stage such as Mrs.
Patrick Campbell, Robert Lorraine,
Henry B. Irving, Lawrence. Irving
and Edith Wynne Mathison.
The company which will be seen
at the State College Auditorium
under the auspices of the Literary
Club, Saturday afternoon and even
ing, Feb. 27, will include Miss Keith
Wakeman, the well known player
and for many years E. S Willard's
leading woman as well as Mr. Otis
Skinner's. Many know of her
beautiful portrayal of Portia, and
will be glad of the opportunity of
witnessing it. Mr. Leonard Shep
herd, the well known English star,
who at the head of his own company
in England played Shylock, lago,
Macbeth and Hamlet, will be seen
here as Shylock. Such well known
players of the Ben Greet company
as Frank McEntee, Stanley Drewitt,
Augusta True, Helen Drewitt, Mark
Wilson and others will fill their parts
