COLLEGE NOTES.
The picture scrap was won on
Thursday morning by the freshmen.
They gathered at the side of Mc-
Allister and twenty- two exposures
were taken from the third fl Dor of
the Chemistry building. Only one of
the pictures taken was good. It
had 18b ireshmen on it, which is
eight more than the number neces
sary to win.
It is pciposed to dedicate our new
athletic tield next spring with a lii i ,h
school meet. inviting ath:etes from
all the high schools and fitting
schools in the state. The New York
Alumni Association has voted thirty
nine medals to be put up for corn
paiition.
A meeting was held in the engi
neering building on Monday evening
to consider the prospects for direct
telegraphic service for State College.
The matter has been taken up with
the state department, and it is be
lieved that something definite may
be accomplishes.
The annual feed and smoker of
the Harrisburg club will be held at
Engineers Club in Harrisburg on
the evening of Dec. 30. The com
mittee has made arrangements for a
good time, and urges all State men
and prospective students to be
present.
A meeting was held last evening
by the press correspondents and
others interested in the formation of
a press club. It is likely that a
permanent organization will be
formed.
Skating will be the popular diver
sion at the college after the holidays.
An embankment is being built
around Beaver Field, and it will be
flooded and allowed to freeze.
More than thirty senior electricals
and mechanicals left on Tuesday for
a week's inspection trip, to include
Philadelphia, Trenton, and New
York.
On Friday night State's first de
bating team lost to Swarthmore at
Swarthmore, while at the same time
our second team won from their
