Meeting of New York Association. A meeting of the Pennsylvania State College Association of New York was held on N.. vt...1.`,.._: 2!, ;..t. 7 p. m. at which time an informal dinner was served at the Graduates Club. During the business portion of the meeting the subject of athletics was thoroughly discussed, athletic direc tor Golden being present to explain the relation of athletics to scholastic standing at State A resolu'ion of appreciation for the frank statements of Mr. Golden was unanimcusly passed The majority of the mem bers favored the offering of assist ance to worthy students on some basis other than that of athletics alone. Mr. H. B. McLane present ed the following resolution which was passed without a dissenting vote: Resolved : That a permanent Lund be established by the Pennsylvania State College Association of New York: said sum to be made up by contributions of twenty dollars ($2O) from each member payable in one, two, three or four installments as may be elected. This fund is to be held by a Board of three Trustees to be named by the President, and to be invested by them as deemed most advantageous The income only from said fund is to be devoted annually to such de partments of the College as in their judgment most require assi.tance. The date of fund payments to be Feb. 1, 1909. The following officers were elect ed for one year, to assume duties immediately : President, F. J. Pond; vice presi dent, J. P. Kottcamp; secretary. treasurer, A. S. McAllister. The 1910 La Vie. To the alumni We are anxious to interest the friends of Penn State in the college annual which is to be published next June. The book is to be dedicated THE STATE COLLEGIAN to Dr. Edwin Erie Sparks, our new president, and will contain a life history and full page photogravure of the man whom we believe is to be the dominant factor in State's future progress. . Tne 1910 La Vie will contain over four hundred pages, and it will be our aim to put out the most at tractive and most artistic annual ever published at State. As you no doubt know, many of the La Vies in previous years have not been self supporting. The maragement of this year's book has struck upon the pl. I, adopted , y other college an nuals, and asks your co operation in the work. The plan is to insert the professional cards of alumni as ad vertisements and present them with a copy of the book, in conside - ation of which we are asking them to make a voluntary subscription to the La Vie. We trust that the alumni will co operate with us in this plan by send ing their subscriptions at once to the manager, and thereby insure the publishing of an annual of which State can be justly proud—a book in the perusal of which you can "Fill up your pipe—and sit down to dream And think to be back—Oh, how good it would seem !" As the number of copies this year will be limited, the management re spectfully requests that all of those who desire a copy of the book send in their subscription at once. The proposal of a country club for the faculty, students, and alum ni of the college, including residents of the village of State College, has met with a quite cordial reception. Professor Harold B.
