Mr. John T. Bealor, of Pittsburg,
lectured on "Systems of Heating
and Ventilating," before the com
bined engineering societies on Mon
day afternoon.
Mr. Bealor introduced his subject
by giving a summary of the most
important principles underlying the
science of heating and ventilating,
and then briefly described the
various systems in use. In closing
he stated that there was a great
dearth of suitably trained heating
and ventilating engineers and that as
a result, much improper work has
been and is being installed to the
serious injury of the health and com
fort of our nation. Later, in con
versation, he complimented the col
lege on the excellence, in general,
of the system here and the economy
of its operation.
The Band in Pittsburg.
The magnificent State spirit and
true enthusiasm among the alumni
and undergraduates shown at the
game in Pittsburg on Thanksgiving
Day was due largely to the excellent
music of the band and the orchestra.
Never before had there been such a
successful reunion of alumni.
There were twenty of the band
who played in the orchestra and
who went to the University Club on
Wednesday night. The concert
was greatly enjoyed by all, but no
more than the concert given by the
band of thirty men in the Fort Pitt
Hotel the next morning. A -cornet
solo by Mr. Allp`ort, and selections
from Faust and the Red Mill were
the principal numbers on the pro
gram. The college certainly did
right to allow the band to go, for
nothing but praise was heard for
the organizations and for State.
