For State, Lynch replaced Vorhis in the seventh, while Heyniger had taken Clark's place one inning earlier. State really won the game by "inside baseball" and clever headwork, which was displayed all through the game with a liberal in fusion of the usual indomitable State spirit. By defeating both Cornell and Princeton in clean-cut games this year, Penn State must surely be considered in the running for the eastern intercollegiate baseball cham pionship. After having a day's rest follow ing the Princeton victory, Delaware having cancelled the game for Thursday, the White and Blue team was compelled to act as the recipient of a salty dose at Villanova on Fri day. State hit . the ball hard, but aside from six scattered hits, most of the drives went right into the hands of the Villanova players, and Mitinger had the ill-fortune to lose his third game for us. It should be said in justice to Mitinger that all of these would have been victories had the team behind him hit with its usual effectiveness. The defeat at Villanova was more than counterbalanced, however, by the Princeton victory, and our team is to, be congratulated for the success of the trip. McCleary, m Hirshman, 1.
