at Connellsville in February. The retiring President and the President elect were both present at the Presi dents' conference held at Carlisle, Pa., in April. SOCIAL The annual reception to new students on the Friday after college opened was by all means the best ever given. The attendance was over a thousand, and an excellent program was successfully carried out. Other social events are rendered practica lly impossible by the meagre accom modations that the Association has at its disposal. The entertainment course proved the most successful in the history of the Association, both as to the financial result and as to the quality of the entertainment and the recep tion accorded to them. The course planned for next year is the most costly ever attempted here, and should be the most successful. No attempt has been made to maintain a game room. To endeavor to make one small room serve as a game room for eleven hundred stu dents is just a trifle impracticable. EQUIPMENT Library - All the books of the Association that are of general inter est have been placed in the college lib:ary, on account of the lack of proper shelf room in the Associa tion's quarters. The chief -addi tions have been along the line of missions. Records—Careful attention has been given to this feature of the work, and all records are now prac tically complete. Rooms—The religious meetings of the Association have been held in Room 529, Main Building, which has proved large enough for the purpose on almost all occasions. This room could not be used, how ever, until November. The Asso ciation is practically compelled to :share this room with the Cadet THE STATE COLLEGIAN The MEDICO-CHIRURGICAL COLLEGE of Philadelphia Department of Medicine Carefully graded course of four sessions of eight months each. In conclusion, it can only be said that the imperative need is for an Association building. In this re• gard, State is already far behind colleges of even a much lesser stand ing and the fact that there is no place in the entire college where men can gather socially save in the village pool rooms, should stir State men to action in the matter of secur ing a suitable building for the As sociation, which would also be the social headquarters of the students. Other buildings are needed, but what can be more important for the up building of true college spirit and life, and the turning out of true men than such a building as we have suggested?
