    Dr. Thompson's Lecture.
One of the most interesting lec
tures of the Free Course was that on
the "History of the Home" by Dr.
Robert Ellis Thompson of Philadel
phia last Saturday evening. After
tracing the gradual development of
the home from the middle of the
century at which time it was nothing
but a cave, down to the present
time, he 'portrayed what he thinks
will be the home of the future.
r. Thompson believes that the
he very best teams possible.
t seems best therefore, at present,
to abolish any tendency to hide this
fact under the cover of an "amateur
rule" which has the effect of lower
ing the honor of a college and its
men. Why not abolish the rule and
replace it by one wnich shall be
obeyed in every respect whether
it stands for summer baseball_ play
ing or pot. Would it not solve the
problem, under present conditions,
to have a rule which is absolutely
rigid about getting men into a col
lege for purely athletic reasons, and
then let them play summer baseball
openly and honestly if they must
work their way through college?
A New Instructor.
The position of instructor of mathe
matics which has until recently been
held by Mr. H. Ross Smith, has
been filled by Mr. S. W. Nieder
hauser, who comes from the gradu
ate school of the University of
Pennsy;vania. Mr. Niederhauser
has taken graduate work at the Uni
versity of Chicago. He is a giadu
ate of Defiance College, B. S., of
Oberlin College, A. 8., A. M., and
was for a number of years a suc
cessful teacher of mathematics in
Northwestern College at Naperville,
Illinois.

It is impossible +o judge the

them that is similar to others—so comparison is out
of place. They stand alone. rho: gh popular priced they'
are far in advance ?f those that co• t ycu double. The
difference lies in the fact that the International Tailoring Co.,
